DEPARTMENT 03-Junior Goat Show

Premiums: 1st – $15, 2nd – $10, 3rd – $5

Rules and Regulations:

  1. There is an entry fee of $7 per goat payable to “Anderson County Fair.” Fees may be paid at check in.
  2. The show is open to youth in 4th – 12th grade.
  3. Grade refers to exhibitor’s grade as of January 1 of the current year.
  4. The show will be Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 6 pm.
  5. Animals cannot arrive to fairgrounds prior to 2 pm and must be checked in by 4 pm.
  6. Scales for market goats open at 3 pm and close at 4 pm. Market goats will be weighed one time only.
  7. All goats must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (Health Papers) dated within 90 days of the show. All animals are subject to inspection upon arrival at the show facilities and any animal with clinical signs of contagious disease will be sent home immediately.
  8. Appropriate Scrapie identification and/or tattoo will be required for all animals.
  9. No straw bedding permitted.
  10. All livestock must comply with the Tennessee State Livestock Health requirements for Fairs and Exhibits.
Division 1 – Showmanship: Exhibitors are judged on their ability to show their goat.

Lot 1 – 9th-12th Grade
Lot 2 – 6th – 8th Grade
Lot 3 – 4th – 5th Grade
Lot 4 – 3rd Grade & Under (participation ribbon only; this class will follow the market wether classes)

 

Division 2 – Dairy Breeds (Purebred and crossbred)

Goats are showed by age as of the date of the show.

Juniors
Lot 1 – Junior Does (0-6 month)
Lot 2 – Junior Does (6-12 month)
Lot 3 – Yearling Does, dry, (13-24 months)

Seniors
Lot 4 – Yearling Does, milking, (13-24 months)
Lot 5 – Senior Does (2 and under 3 years)
Lot 6 – Senior Does (3 and under 4 years)
Lot 7 – Aged Does (4 years and older)
Lot 8 – Overall Grand & Reserve Champion Dairy Doe
Lot 9 – Junior Bucks (12 months & under)

Division 3 – Novelty Does

Goats are shown by age day of the show. This division is for miniature and miniature breed crosses that do not classify as a dairy breed. Classification will be left up to the discretion of the show committee.

Lot 1- 0-3 Month Does
Lot 2- 3-6 Month Does
Lot 3- 6-9 Month Does
Lot 4- 9-12 Month Does
Lot 5- Grand & Reserve Champion Doe Kid
Lot 6- 12-18 Month Yearling Does
Lot 7- 18-24 Month Yearling Does
Lot 10- Grand & Reserve Champion Yearling Doe
Lot 11- Aged Does (2+ years)
Lot 12- Overall Grand and Reserve Champion Novelty Does

Division 4 – Meat Breeding Does (Registered and Commercial) Registered Does will show by age day of the show.
Must have valid registration papers or proof of registration submission.

Lot 1 – 0-3 Month Does
Lot 2 – 3-6 Month Does
Lot 3 – 6-9 Month Does
Lot 4 – 9-12 Month Does
Lot 5 – Grand & Reserve Champion Doe Kid
Lot 6 – 12-18 Month Yearling Doe
Lot 7 – 18-24 Month Yearling Does
Lot 8 – Grand & Reserve Champion Yearling Doe
Lot 9 – Overall Grand and Reserve Registered Doe

Commercial Does
-Unregistered does will be shown by weight. Class breaks will be determined by show officials.
Lot 10 – Doe kids with a complete unbroken mouth and kid teeth
Lot 11 – Yearling does with no more than 2 adult teeth.
Lot 12 – Champion & Reserve Champion Doe

Division 5 – Market Animals
  1. All market goats are required to have a complete unbroken mouth and kid teeth.
  2. Market goats will be shown by weight. Class divisions determined by show officials.

Lot 1 – Lightweight market goat class
Lot 2 – Middleweight market goat class
Lot 3 – Heavyweight market goat class
Lot 4 – Champion & Reserve

Division 6 – Costume Class
  1. Exhibitor and/or goat dressed in funny/themed/etc. costume.
  2. Premiums: 1st – $15, 2nd – $10, 3rd – $5

Lot 4 – Little Buddies Costume (participation ribbon only)
